Academic Journal Submission (IEEE, Elsevier, Springer)
Most academic portals (such as IEEE PDF eXpress and Elsevier Editorial Manager) reject figures under 300 DPI. Use Lossless Mode to pass portal validation without altering pixel quality.

Official DPI Standards for Journals, Books & Printing

How Does It Work?

1

1. Upload Your Image

Select or drag any JPG, PNG, or WebP graphic, figure, or photo.

2

2. Select Target DPI

Choose 300 DPI for journal submissions, 600 DPI for fine art, or enter a custom DPI.

3

3. Inspect Print Dimensions

Check calculated physical print size in inches and cm with recommended paper matching.

4

4. Download Lossless File

Download your image with the newly baked DPI header in less than a second.

Lossless Metadata Rewriter

Modifies JFIF and PNG pHYs chunks directly without recompressing pixels.

Academic Journal Ready

Passes strict automated checks on IEEE, Elsevier, Nature, and Springer portals.

Print Size Calculator

Real-time calculation of physical print dimensions across standard paper sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

DPI (Dots Per Inch) specifies the density of printed dots when an image is physically reproduced on paper. Academic publishers like IEEE and Elsevier require 300 DPI to guarantee that text, graphs, and fine data lines remain crisp and legible in print.

No! In Lossless Mode, the image pixels are kept completely untouched. Only the metadata header (JFIF in JPEG, or pHYs chunk in PNG) is updated to state 300 DPI. There is zero recompression and zero quality loss.

Resolution is the number of pixels (e.g. 3000 × 2000 px). DPI is the distribution density when printed. For example, a 3000 × 2000 px image printed at 300 DPI produces a sharp 10 × 6.67 inch physical print.

Yes! Both JPEG (JFIF density headers) and PNG (pHYs physical dimension chunks with CRC32 verification) are fully supported and converted natively in your browser.
